City Escape is the first Hero Stage. It is an action stage where Sonic is trying to escape from the authorities, who have mistaken him for Shadow. In the first section of the stage, Sonic is riding a piece of metal he ripped off of a helicopter as if it were a skateboard; the rest is a fairly standard action stage.

Board Section Tricks[]
By doing tricks on the ramps, you can save tons of time on the beginning of the stage. To increase your speed off the ramp, you can do one of the following:
- Turn as you approach the edge of the ramp (the sideways speed gets converted to forward speed).
- Double tap jump as you are approaching the ramp, this will give you a big boost of speed if timed correctly.
City Escape Skip (CE Skip)[]
This is one of the biggest skips in the entire game, and it is at the very beginning of the Hero Story run. The premise is to hit the first ramp after the first checkpoint with more speed than intended. By doing this, it is possible to hit a speedpad while also clipping out of bounds, launching you out of bounds to the lower rail section before the truck, saving almost 30 seconds!
There are a few ways to go about getting this skip, the one shown in the GIF above is the most consistent method of getting the skip, however you are stuck with a really bad camera when landing in the rail section. To combat this you can either do the rail section with the bad camera using visual cues in the background, or you can simply run to the beginning of the rail section to reset the camera. There are other methods of doing this skip besides the one above however they are no where near as consistent. If you are going to take the time to learn this skip, I would learn it this method over any other method.
